SOLAR PANELS AND PHOTOVOLTAIC SHINGLES

Solar panels and photovoltaic shingles are both good ways to collect the sun’s energy on the roof of your home. Each choice has pros and cons you should consider before you decide which option is for you. Some choices you can dictate, but some are controlled by the location and design of your house alone.

Both types of solar energy collectors work on the same principle. Sunlight hits the photovoltaic semiconductor material in the panel or in the shingle; this is then converted to direct current via diodes. This direct power is wired to a converter that converts it to alternating current that all of our homes are wired for. Then this power enters our house and is either used directly, stored in batteries, or sold to the power company.

Roof-mounted solar panels are much more attractive today than in the past. They offer more versatility for optimal performance since they can be adjusted for the best sunlight reception over the course of the year. They are also easier to retrofit for your roof, though some homes are even designed with these solar panels in mind and are even highlighted by their incorporation of solar panels and photovoltaic shingles into their design.

Photovoltaic shingles look quite similar to regular asphalt shingles and can blend in with most traditional homes’ roofs. These blend in much nicer to your home’s roofline, but you are at the mercy of your roof’s lines. Depending on your latitude and north/south position, your rooflines may be in direct opposition of your wishes and shingles can not be adjusted. If you are planning new construction, you can consider designing your roofline and roof’s angle for the best solar energy reception. But on an existing roof they could be ineffective depending on its angle and what direction it faces.

Solar power is such an effective power source; every property owner should consider it the next time they make an investment in a new roof or in a new home. The advances in solar technology have been dramatic in only the last five years. If you thought you knew about solar power, it’s time to read up again. Solar panels and photovoltaic shingles are only a couple of the areas in which solar is shining. Add all of the new solar technologies to the rising cost of coal power and solar power makes a lot of sense.

WELCOME TO SOLAR ENERGY - SOLAR POWER !

More and more people are looking for information on how to implement and use the sun’s power to provide much needed energy at an affordable price.

WHAT ARE SOLAR PANELS? HOW DO THEY WORK? LEARN THE TECHNOLOGY

Solar panels (SP) or sometimes called photovoltaic (PV) panels are made from materials that can allow it to convert the sun’s rays into electrical energy.

SOLAR PANEL MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY IN SIMPLE WORDS

Solar panels are continuing to improve and offer us viable solutions to the trouble of relying on fossil fuels for our energy.

FLEXIBLE SOLAR PANEL

If you only need a low wattage solar panel, the innovations in flexible solar panels may be just the solution for you. Just as the name says, these solar panels are flexible.

RV SOLAR PANELS

From simple battery maintenance to fulltime live power, RV solar panels and kits gives you independence from fuel, fumes, and noise of generators.

COST OF SOLAR PANEL

Cost of solar panel installation is finally becoming financially feasible, at least for large companies, because of a “third wave” of solar energy technology that is literally rolling off of the production line.

SOLAR PV PANELS

Solar PV panels or photovoltaic (PV) cells produce electricity from the rays of the sun. Multiple solar panels can be coupled into larger arrays to produce significant amounts of power.

DISADVANTAGES OF SOLAR PANELS

Disadvantages of solar panels need to be considered whether you are comparing them to staying on the grid or comparing them to other “green” energy sources like hydro or wind.

HOW A SOLAR PANEL WORKS

How a solar panel works is pretty basic. The photovoltaic cells on the solar panel absorb some of the light’s energy into their semiconductor material.

ROLL SOLAR PANEL

Roll solar panel is a new way to take quick and easy power with you. The technology behind these flexible, rollable, versatile solar panels is called “thin-film” technology.

SOLAR PANEL FOR HOUSE

Solar panel for house or solar panels for household use are becoming more popular for several reasons. The cost of coal power is going up.

SOLAR PANEL MOUNTING FRAMES AND MOUNTING TIPS

No matter where or how you plan to mount your solar panels there are certain considerations that greatly affect the efficiency, structure, and lifetime of the panels.

SOLAR PANEL PORTABLE

Solar panel portable or portable solar panels are becoming very popular. Solar-powered calculators have been around for years.

PRINTABLE SOLAR PANELS

Printable solar panels from new polymer-based technology may one day allow consumers to practically print their own energy.

SOLAR PANEL ARRAYS

Panel arrays have been used for years to power satellites, remote weather stations, and on islands where other power sources are not usable or practical

SOLAR PANEL ROOF TILES

Solar panel roof tiles are made with built-in photovoltaic cells and are designed to blend in with most types of roof tiles whether they are concrete, slate, or shingle.

SOLAR PANEL POOL HEATERS

Solar panel pool heaters are one of the most cost-effective uses of solar energy today. You can easily add a solar pool heater to a pool with or without an existing heater.

SOLAR PANELS SYSTEMS

Typical roof-mounted solar panels, or any other roof-based application, require that you have a south-facing roof surface that is not shaded.

SOLAR PANEL RESIDENTIAL

Solar panel residential use is more popular than ever.Solar panel residential installation has been around a long time.

WHAT IS A SOLAR PANEL?
