Solar Panels Systems

Solar panels systems are a great way to supplement or replace the fossil fuel energy consumption in your home. Since these systems convert the sun’s energy to useable electric power, they work best in sunny areas, but have been shown to work well in areas with more cloud cover. A bright but overcast day can actually provide as much light to your solar panels system’s photovoltaic cells, as can the sunlight’s reflection and refraction off of snow. All of this means that solar energy may be more suitable for you than you originally thought.
Typical roof-mounted solar panels, or any other roof-based application, require that you have a south-facing roof surface that is not shaded. If your house doesn’t fit this description, there are other ways to mount solar panels. If you have enough property, you can mount the panels on the ground in an area that gets full sunlight. You can also have your solar panels systems’ individual panels mounted on poles to reach over the top of your shade trees. Once you have an idea of what you need, consult an electrician that has experience in photovoltaic power system installation. Some areas even have “green” energy consultants through their extension office or similar agency that will advise you for free.
Be sure you do some research first so you know what questions to ask of the electrician or other consultant. Solar energy technology has changed significantly in the last five years, so even if you are somewhat familiar with photovoltaics, brush up. You may also find new technology that you can add to your solar-energy arsenal. Prices and sizes are coming down and new “thin-film” technology is allowing for flexible panels that can be rolled as tight as two inches in diameter.
All of these technological advances in solar energy technology are bringing costs down to the same price as producing coal energy, at least on an industrial scale. This same technology is going to be available to consumers for about a third of the cost of traditional solar panels. Currently, this technology has reached consumers on a smaller scale. Portable solar panel systems are much more portable and powerful – you can now charge your laptop with a solar panel the size of a notebook.
Photovoltaic power systems from standard roof panel to rollable panels offer many options to consumers wherever they live. More people are finding ways to cut down on their fossil fuel uses by adding solar energy to their lives. Adding solar power and solar panels systems to your life is easier and more cost-effective than ever before.
