Solar Power Benefits

Visit Grants Incentives page for detailed information!

Solar power benefits are numerous and in most cases outweigh the liabilities so long as you can afford it. But if you’re buying electricity from an electric company, you’re probably going to save money in the long term by installing a solar power system. If you take into consideration the betterment on the environment by not using fossil fuels, the benefits become obvious. Some solar systems are not expensive at all. There are solar panels that heat air and you can circulate this air in your home to provide heat for the home. There are also solar panels that circulate water within and heat floors, swimming pools, or provide steam to generate electricity.

Solar ovens are made by using mirrors to head an insulated area for cooking or industrial applications. In the 1950s solar panels were recognized to be very useful and experimentation began which led to panels powering satellites. Now solar panels are used in everything from yard lights to calculators to providing homes with power. These where the baby steps, but with the current trend towards global warming and the need for alternative energy, solar power availability and the benefits are on the rise and there is mass research being done to make a more efficient panel. The basic break down on how a photovoltaic system works is that it absorbs energy from the sun and produces an electric potential. Then a load (weather a light, stove or low battery that needs charging) is applied and current will flow. If you don’t have batteries you probably will have a grid tie system. With a grid tie system you will always have a current because what you don’t use within your home will be sold to the electrical company through a meter that runs backwards. There are also passive ways that solar energy works. Large windows may heat a room, or special heat conducting tiles may store heat longer than other flooring, and ventilation systems that heat walls and cause hot air to rise therefore drawing in cold air.

There are many financial incentives available for people that are powering their home with solar energy such as tax incentives and rebates. Detailed info Solar power benefits for USA & UK here: tax incentives

Remember, solar energy is silent, non polluting, renewable, free, low maintenance, long lasting and healthier for the planet.
