SOLAR POWERED COMPUTER MOUSE

Sole Mio- The solar powered computer mouse

Solar powered computer mouse

The Sole Mio is a photovoltaic powered computer mouse which was initiated by Minister Cramer, Ministry of housing, Spatial Planning and the environment. The mouse is currently undergoing a series of trials in Netherlands. These trials aim to demonstrate the efficiency of this solar powered computer mouse. People who have used the wireless mouse will agree when I state that wireless mouse do not use a lot of power and yet it considerably exhausts the battery of the mouse.

Surprisingly, the mouse always runs out of power when you need it for critically important work. The ongoing trials aim to present to the potential customers whether this Sole Mio can be highly efficient and completely charged on a busy day at work. The initial testing of 15 units was aimed to demonstrate whether people were willing to adapt their usage demands to suit this solar powered device. Needless to say in multi national companies when so many people work simultaneously o the computer and laptops, the mouse is an integral part of work.

So, when mass usage is the need of the day then you may want to save your soaring electricity bills when the energy usage and demand is increasing and the resources available are depleting. The mouse is also being tested in the view of its efficiency when a person works near the window which implies in close proximity to the sun light available and to test whether the device has 100% efficiency under direct sunlight. This solar powered computer mouse was developed within the Syn-Energy programme of Netherlands Organisation for the purpose of Scientific Research in which TU Delft cooperate closely with its associates. Numerous batteries can be save annually at a large scale which also refers to the fact that it has environmental benefits and also monitory benefits.

Sole Mio is the first of the other mouse models. The aim to test whether the mouse which is engineered to utilise renewable sources of energy is attractive in its form would attract users to use this tech piece. One can use natural or artificial light to function the solar powered mouse. To be able to operate the photo voltaic mouse is dependent on numerous factors. The factors can be the whether the user intends to charge the mouse regularly depending on the light conditions. Another factor which could determine the efficiency of the mouse can be the usage it is put through, it could range from an average usage to an exhaustive one. But, regardless of some factors this solar powered mouse can be charged up to 5 times faster than the conventional way of charging it through the use of electricity. The environmental benefit of this product can further be improved by developing reasonable and energy efficient photo voltaic cells which TU Delft is already working on. Sole Mio is the result of 4 years of research and design to bring to you this user, environment and monetarily friendly mouse.
